A popular Milton-Freewater convenience store was robbed at gunpoint overnight and the suspect remains at large, according to police officials. An unidentified male suspect is reported to have entered Neighborhood Grocery, located at 209 NW 8th Avenue, around 6:30pm, brandished a firearm and demanded money from the register.
Police officials say that the store clerk complied with the suspects request, after he displayed what is being described as a semi-automatic pistol. The suspect got away with at least $418 in cash, according to police. The clerk did not recognize the individual, police say.
“The suspect is described as being male, approximately 5’ 7” with a slender build with dark hair, possibly a light complected Hispanic person. He is described as having a goatee type beard. The suspect was described as wearing a black “hoodie” type sweatshirt, and a baseball cap with a black brim,” Milton-Freewater Police Chief Doug Boedigheimer told us by email.
No physical evidence was left at the scene and it’s unclear if the suspect left on foot or by vehicle. Officials say that they are reviewing video surveillance footage from the store to ascertain additional details.
