Rise Media Classifieds Addendum

By joining & participating in Rise Media Classifieds, you agree to the Rise Media Facebook Membership Guidelines policy and the additional guidelines below.

Membership Eligibility

Membership into Rise Media Classifieds is open to any resident of the Walla Walla Valley — including Walla Walla, College Place, Milton-Freewater, Pendleton and Waitsburg (and points in between).  Members must be in compliance with Facebook’s Community Standards and must be at least 13-years-of-age or older.

All members are expected to read and follow Rise Media’s Facebook Membership Guidelines policy, and the terms of this addendum prior to joining or posting in the group.

1. Buy/Sale/Trade Posts

We encourage members to use Rise Media Classifieds to buy, sale or trade legally permissible items.  The following additional guidelines govern these types of posts:

  1. Post Requirements:  When making a buy/sale/trade post you are required to describe your item accurately and completely. If something is broken, say so! If you’re looking to buy or sale something, put a price in your post. We do not allow posts that do not list a price but ask members to “make an offer.” Attach all photos for your item to the main post. Posts with photos get better responses from members. If you are looking to trade your item for something else, please make that clear in your description. Be sure to include what you are looking to trade for.
  2. Restricted Items:  Members are prohibited from using this group to buy/sale/trade any of the following: clothing (including shoes), firearms, ammunition, tobacco, marijuana or any other items prohibited by Facebook or state/federal law. We allow for the re-homing of domestic animals (dogs, cats, hamsters, etc) — however Facebook prohibits the sale of animals. You may not list any animals for sale in this group.
  3. Bumping Posts:  “Bumping” a post is when a user makes a comment on their post (usually the word bump, meaning “bring up my post”) to cause the post to return to the top of the group. This helps your post get seen by users before other posts, however this feature has the tendency to be abused. Members may only bump their buy/sale/trade post once per day in this group. Users who abuse this feature will be permanently removed from the group for spamming.
  4. Post Frequency:  Members should post their item only once. Use the “edit post” option to make changes to your post, including changing the description or the price. List each item individually, unless you are selling numerous items together. To move your item back up on the group, follow the instructions in #3 above to bump your post. Members who post the same item repeatedly will be removed from the group for spamming. Once your item has been sold, please mark your post as sold or delete it from the group.

2. Job Openings

We encourage local businesses and organizations to post their institution’s job opportunities.  The following additional guidelines govern these types of posts:

  1. Post Requirements:  When making a job opening post you are required to describe the job opportunity available, qualifications for the job and instructions on how members may apply for said position (include any appropriate links to online applications, phone numbers, physical addresses, etc that may be required to apply).  Any photos used should be applicable to the post and not copyrighted.
  2. Non-discrimination Pledge:  Employers who make job opportunity posts in Rise Media Classifieds agree to not make employment related decisions on the basis of any characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. Employers who do not agree to adhere to non-discrimination should avoid posting in Rise Media Classifieds.
  3. Bumping Posts:  Members may only bump their “job opening” posts once per day in this group. Users who abuse this feature will be permanently removed from the group for spamming.
  4. Post Frequency:  Members should post their job openings only once. Use the “edit post” option to make changes to your post. List each job opportunity individually. To move your job opportunity back up on the group, follow the instructions in #3 above to bump your post. Members who post the same job opportunity repeatedly will be removed from the group for spamming. Once your position has been filled, please delete the post from the group.

3. Housing For Rent or Sale

We encourage homeowners who are looking to rent or sale a property, to list their property in Rise Media Classifieds.  The following additional guidelines govern these types of posts:

  1. “For Rent” Post Requirements:  When making a “for rent” post you are required to describe the housing unit available, the price of the unit, anything that is included with the rent (such as trash, water, lawn maintenance, etc), the general location and contact details for interested parties. Your post should include any requirements or restrictions the property may have — such as no pets or income requirements. Photos of the property should be accurate.
  2. “For Sale” Post Requirements:  When making a “for sale” post you are required to describe the housing unit, the asking price, the general location of the home and contact details for interested parties. Photos of the property should be accurate. If your property is being sold by a realtor, you may link to your realtor’s listing or provide contact details for interested parties.
  3. Non-discrimination Pledge:  Members who make housing posts in Rise Media Classifieds agree to not make housing decisions on the basis of any characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. Those who do not agree to adhere to non-discrimination should avoid posting in Rise Media Classifieds.
  4. Bumping Posts:  Members may only bump their housing posts once per day in this group. Users who abuse this feature will be permanently removed from the group for spamming.
  5. Post Frequency:  Members should post their housing openings only once. Use the “edit post” option to make changes to your post. List each housing unit individually. To move your housing post back up on the group, follow the instructions in #4 above to bump your post. Members who post the same housing post repeatedly will be removed from the group for spamming. Once your housing has been filled/sold, please delete the post from the group.

4. Community Events

We encourage members to share their community events with other members in Rise Media Classifieds.  The following additional guidelines govern those types of posts:

  1. Post Requirements:  When making community event posts you are required to provide full details of your event including a description, the date and time, the location and any costs associated. Photos should be related to your event and not copyrighted by others. You may use the “create an event” option within the group or simply link to your public event from your Facebook wall or page.
  2. Restricted Events:  Members are prohibited from using this group to promote events that: are not open to the general public; are purely of a religious nature; are disguised as “fundraisers” by “work-at-home” ventures; promote violence, guns or illegal behavior; violate Facebook’s Community Guidelines or that conflict with the Rise Media Facebook Membership Guidelines policy.
  3. Bumping Posts:  Members may only bump their event posts once every three (3) days in this group. Users who abuse this feature will be permanently removed from the group for spamming.
  4. Post Frequency:  Members should post their events only once. Use the “edit post” option to make changes to your post. List each event individually. To move your event back up on the group, follow the instructions in #3 above to bump your post. Members who post the same event repeatedly will be removed from the group for spamming. Once your event is over, please delete the post from the group.

5. Local Businesses & Groups

Rise Media recognizes the importance of shopping local and supporting local businesses.  We encourage local business owners to promote their business to members of the group.  The following additional guidelines govern these types of posts:

  1. Post Requirements:  When making local business posts please describe your business, its location and your business hours or link to your Facebook page or website. If your post is a sale or promotion, please include any terms of the sale/promotion (such as “must purchase $50 or more” or “discount cannot be used on clearance items”). Photos should accurately compliment your post.
  2. Restricted Businesses:  Members are prohibited from using Rise Media Classifieds to promote “work-at-home” ventures (such as Avon, Herbalife, Mary Kay, Scentsy, Tupperware, etc). Businesses which are governed by advertising restrictions (such as vendors that sale alcohol, tobacco or marijuana) are required to comply with state law and Facebook’s Community Guidelines. The advertising of fire arms and ammunition is prohibited in Rise Media Classifieds.
  3. Bumping Posts:  Members may only bump their business posts once every three (3) days in this group. Users who abuse this feature will be permanently removed from the group for spamming.
  4. Post Frequency:  Members may post their local business once per month. Use the “edit post” option to make changes to your post during that time. To move your business post back up on the group, follow the instructions in #3 above to bump your post. Members who promote their local business more than once per month will be removed from the group for spamming.
